Dental Checkups & Cleanings

At the beginning of your visit, we will look for signs of tooth decay, fractures, and other oral health issues. This involves carefully inspecting your mouth, and we’ll occasionally take X-rays to see if there are any changes occurring under the gums or in hard-to-see spots. Additionally, any harmful plaque or tartar that has already accumulated on your teeth and gums will be found and subsequently removed during your thorough dental cleaning

Oral Cancer Screening

As devastating as the disease can be, oral cancer can often go unnoticed at first. Many patients mistakenly think they only have a small sore or regular toothache. It may not be until much later that they realize something is very wrong, and by then, the cancer may have already spread and become much more deadly. Oral cancer screenings are a regular part of our dental checkups, and it’s important that you keep your biannual appointments so we can catch the disease early and give you the best chance of beating it.

Children’s Dentistry

Finding a dentist who can see your children as well as yourself can be extremely convenient and save you a lot of time scheduling and driving to appointments. That said, it’s also important to find a practice that the youngest members of your family feel safe and comfortable visiting so that they can form a positive relationship with dentistry from a very young age. You can count on Dr. Albert to always treat your children with kindness and patience so that they walk away with happy, healthy grins.

Dental Sealants

Your child’s first permanent molars will erupt around their 6th birthday, and the second molars will appear around the age of 12. As soon as molars appear, you should call Dr. Albert to ask about dental sealants. These thin plastic coatings can protect the various crevices on the chewing surfaces of the molars from plaque and debris, which can make all the difference in preventing cavities while your child is still developing their brushing abilities.

Fluoride Treatment

Enamel is strong, but it slowly breaks down over time. Luckily, it can be strengthened – and even rebuilt to some extent – with a naturally occurring mineral called fluoride. You should be getting plenty of fluoride from the water you drink, but your smile could benefit from an additional application during your next appointment. Applying fluoride directly to the teeth can even prevent already present decay from reaching the inner layer of pulp that contains the nerve of the tooth

Nightguards

Do you wake up with a sore jaw or tooth pain every morning? You may be grinding your teeth at night, gradually wearing down the enamel and putting undue pressure on your jaw joints. A nightguard will help you stop the pain as well as any further damage. Such appliances can be bought from the store, but they won’t fit perfectly on your teeth. If you want your nightguard to be as comfortable and effective as possible, you should ask Dr. Albert about having one custom-made.
